Type one or several search terms in the first table and it will return all corresponding plant offers, sorted by distance from you (if you have an account with a location set up), that are currently active on the platform, wherever they are on earth. These results will be of 2 types: local and global.
Local results are represented by a map marker. These are the plants shared by gardeners in their own neighborhood and in private mode only. If you are in the same area, all is well and you will proceed as usual to find the plant. Otherwise, this person may have not planned to set this plant available for anyone in the world. If interested, you could contact him/her and gently request it by post.
Note that only Bamboo Shoot account holders will be able to contact these persons in the second case.
Global results are represented by an envelope. They come from lists of plants that some gardeners created for the purpose of donating or exchanging them by post. You will be able to contact these persons if you have a Bamboo Shoot account.
In the second table, you can perform a search on plant requests filed by Bamboo Shoot members (if you want that others see your own requests here, you need such an account). That way, you are able to contact people who wish to get what you have. As above, an icon indicates which results are part of a list (which means that this is someone who is inclined to send and receive plants and seeds by post).
